Shala is a sanskrit word meaning home or abode.

A "Yoga Shala " is a home or place of yoga. You will instantly feel at home and welcome at Shala Yoga Center. Our amazing, supportive and fun community is what makes the Shala so special. Lisa began practicing yoga in 1999 as a means to calm her anxious mind and tune her jittery body. When she was introduced to Astanga Yoga, she found the style that resonated with her, an energetic, vibrant practice that filled her with a sense of strength and wellbeing. The practice taught her to focus and discipline her mind. Her specialty is making a daunting style of yoga (ashtanga) approachable and fun!!

Hatha yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in America. It is the branch of yoga which concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. There are nearly 200 hatha yoga postures, with hundreds of variations, which work to make the spine supple and to promote circulation in all the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures also stretch and align the body, promoting balance and flexibility (source).
